Grunge rock mean hard rock (mainly the drums / guitar combination)
Mixture with punk, screaming angry voice from the vocals
Ever heard of Nirvana? Alice In Chains? Creed?

Pearl Jam is a rock band formed in Seattle, Washington and is considered one of the most influential artists of the 1990s.[1] Founded in 1990, Pearl Jam is one of the "Big Four" of the grunge movement[2], alongside Nirvana, Alice in Chains and Soundgarden, and is one of the few bands to lead the breakthrough of alternative rock in the early 1990s and remain active today.
Definitely powerful.

Pearl Jam's music is considered alternative rock coming out from Seattle, WA. Grunge is all about how they dressed up (t shirts, fannels), hair style (not to long, but grungy almost dirty looking), tennis shoes, etc, etc.....

The lead singer is Eddie Vedder. No one knows what the hell he's saying. He sounds like an auctioneer with some crappy grunge riffs playing in the background. Don't waste your time.

Grunge I thought has more of a rebellious attitude. They seem to be more just rock.
But I recommend seeing the "Jeremy" video, it won a bunch of awards on MTV. Excellent (give me goose bumps)

well, to start off...the lead singer has to have an angry voice. eddie is a perfect example.
um well...actually, any type of music is tough to explain. if you realy want to know..take a listen to their music!
good songs to start off on are even flow, alive, life wasted, and world wide suicide...check out all of them. they are all great.
