A pin-up model are the type of models you see in Playboy or Maxin or FHM. Ones that you might see on a guy's wall. A model is just a girl who sits there, looks pretty, poses, and gets a picture taken.

pinups are the kind that are just prettty and sex yand not professionals that are used to advertize products. more like for playboy instead of vogue. this is an expression from WWII whn soldiars had no girls available but would get a picture of a pretty girl and pin it up inside their locker to enjoy.

"Pinup" is a specific type of model. This one has sexy pix in swimsuits or nude. You see models in "Bazaar" and "Vogue" and pinups in "Penthouse" and "Playboy".
