Even if the ATM gives you the wrong amount of money, you're responsible. Since there are cameras around the ATM, all the bank would have to do is check the time the machine made the error and match it with the tape. Then you'd be in some trouble.

It depends on what you think of yourself as a person ,,, Right is right and wrong is wrong ,,, and I know that it would be just another institution you would be returning it too and most people wouldn't think it would hurt to keep it ,,,, But maybe you should consider just who it would hurt ,,,,, Most people like to feel good about themselves and that they are a decent person ,,,,, that they can look up to themselves and feel that every one else should too ,,,, But think about how you would feel about yourself in both cases ,,,,, either keep it or return it ,,,,, Think about what the people you are going to deal with in returning it are going to think of you and maybe look at you just a little envious because they know that they wouldn't be strong enough to do what you are doing,,,,,, That they would see their own failing in this situation ,,,,, You might only be returning $200 dollars but you just might get a $1000 dollars worth of respect for doing it It doesn't matter where the money came from A financial institution or a private person,, Returning it would get you more than $200 dollars would ,,,,, So what should you do ??? Let your conscious be your guide

You will return the difference to the bank or they will do their bookkeeping and realize the error and debit your account by an additional $180. Banks reconcile their accounts - and each transaction at the ATM is recorded - and videotaped. An honest person will return the money before they are notified of the error by the bank.

I would return the money, becdause the bank would eventually find the mistake and withdrawl it out of your account anyway, so you aren't getting anything for free.

This is a good question, and easily answered by me. I would return it to the bank. I already walk around feeling guilty for things that are beyond my control. So I would save myself some sleepless nights and do the right thing. After all what comes around goes around.

I'd be happy for about a second, but then sad because I'd have to let the bank know about the error. The bank will eventually find out about it, and I could end up in trouble because of it.

Id wanna go on a shopping spree. BUT seriously.. Id be consumed with guilt. And the paranoia that they will find me and put me in jail somehow. Id go inside and tell the teller the truth. Im just too goody goody to actually pocket it.
