Has anyone ever taken a home pregnancy test..recieved a positive result and then gone to the doctors to confirm. They gave me a urine test that said negative but I am going for the blood test tomorrow. I had a positive home test on the day of my missed period I am now 2 days late. I am NEVER late. I can count down with a clock when my period will come. So is this common? Because this was just a clinic I mean they could have been using a weak test. I don't know. But I would like to know so I can know what steps to take next.

well right now i am pg with my 3rd child and yes drs can be wrong. when i had my first child, i took a home pregnancy test 2 wks after my missed period and it was positive.i went to the dr and they said i wasn't they said it was a bladder infection. after my second missed period the dr put me in the hospital due to a massive bladder infection they also said i was not pregnant. i thought this is stupid, i can't be puking and keeling over in pain due to a bladder infection. so i finally went to plan parenthood and requested a blood test. it was positive, i was 12 wks along. i then went back to my dr who looked dumbfounded at the results and then realized that the medication that i was taking for my epilepsy falsified the ketones in my urine therefore that is why it would not show up on the urine tests taken at his office and at the hospital. so ever since if it shows up positive on a hpt, i always request a blood test from my dr.it will show up in a blood test if you are regardless of any medications you are taking. the blood test looks for a specific hormone called hcg. sounds like a congratulations is in order good luck and definately get the blood test

It is possible, If you tested with a morning sample and then the doctor tested during the day, The blood test should show a correct result. Good luck with your results.

well yeah it happens, first morning urine has the strongest concentration of the hormone they are looking for......plus the person dipping it in could have done it wrong, you might have had a lot to drink etc......good luck, let us know....
