I really want to attend a university in the Raleigh/Durham area of North Carolina, since the universities there are known for being good universities. In general which one is the better of the three (not taking into consideration, the areas of study that each university offers)

Maybe not the most important difference, but among contributions to technical and academic Usenet groups by people who state their academic institution, I remember Duke as being more often the source of valuable material.

You should talk to your school counselor. You can also write to each school and ask them for a brochure which will tell you all about each of them. For that matter, ask your counselor to send for the brochures for you. Anyone who has attended any of those universities is going to say it is the best one by the way. So do your own research. As a matter of fact you can go to Google and type in the name of each university and you will bring up various sites/sources which can help you make a decision.

There many things that make those schools different--and it has more to do with research focus, undergraduate/graduate student ratio, size, etc--and less to do with quality. They are all excellent schools. What do you think faculty at these institutions think of themselves...as less than those professors at other schools, because some high school student deems one school "better" than another, for some inane, arbitrary reason? Like you? Are you kidding? The "better" school? Give me a break!

Duke is about half undergraduate students and half graduate students. If you want a more common undergraduate experience then consider UNC or state if you want to farm.
