Exactly, I think its ridiculous that you plead guilty to something and either get a lesser sentence or be able to have a chance to go to jail and then appeal it. Hell, if someone gets life in prison, they usually dont end up spending life in prison.

Yes I agree with you ,but let it be a long suffering death ,maybe a couple days before he is allowed to die .OK why I'm so hostel is my baby sister was raped ,beaten ,murdered while caring in her womb a almost 6 month baby ,they then set fire to her legs and the mobile home ,now the community all knows who done this and so does the law and district attorney ,but the three had alibis each other and the courts said nothing can be done ,unless one of them talk ,this judge would not allow us a family wear her picture in the court room made us remove my baby sis picture from our shirt and no one was allowed to say she was with child and a baby was also burned up .and one day in trail a jail mate told about the baby and it was thrown out we had to wait 5 months to get it back in trail .so here we are a family medium income average ,has spent money and cant do anything else .unless we can raise enough money to hire a private detective .and I told them in court they will die a slow death not fast and easy slow ,so now if one of them dies I go straight to jail for the threat ,but I don't care .I want judgeist ,she has 3 living sons that grieve her so much ,at Christmas they go to her grave and put a little tree with gifts all holidays they decorate ,and the oldest 14 sets over at her grave and cry .this is there life forever ,help me pray for peace ,and yes he needs to die but a slow death .

Because we as a nation have a basic policy (I don't think it's a federal law, but it is a state one in some places) that says that if you plead guilty, then you don't get the maximum possible punishment. The argument is that we can save money on the trial if they plead, and to encourage them to plead, we won't "throw the book" at them.
In the case of a potential capital crime, it does end up not being a net savings, but depending upon the state, in some cases its been shown that being on death row costs more than life in prison because of the cost of automatic appeals, etc.

I say jail. He was very young wheb this happened, young teenagers brains dont actually work the same way as a adults would when dealing with such a serious crime. The elder gentleman is another case altogether, totally coo koo if you ask me.I do think he should be in jail, and that is where he belongs after that nightmare they put that region through.

If you ask me they're doing it just to waste taxpayers money. But if you want the technical answer it's probably a pretty tough case to prove and they'll want him to have his chance at appeals and all that crap so he can't turn around six months from now and say oh wait I take that back I'm innocent and was pressured to confess

Of course their will always b pros n cons for both sides of the argument but I figure they suffer more by living the rest of their lives in prison. Plus just maybe we can gain some insight n knowledge about why they do what they do.
(I live in Maryland n it was scary to b out n about while his shooting spree was going on!)
