Have you asked each and every black person living right now? You are asking a very broad question and have already focused on a generalization. Each person has their own distinct music tastes which is influenced by their community or social relations. Perhaps Blacks you have asked all come from the same area or maybe you just see Blacks and hear the type of music they like and it isnt always grunge.

I am Black and my music tastes lie within classical music, Enka and various types of recored ancient tribal music. Also, my music tastes boil down to the beat and to the lyrics. If the lyrics are lewd, suicidal, overly political and whatnot I tend not to collect CDs from bands like that. I greatly dislike mainstream as it is very sexually based. Rave and grunge are fine by me as long as they are inside the boundries I have stated.

Hope that helps. You have another 50 million+ Blacks to ask the same question to.

First of all.. who says "black people hate grunge music?". By grunge I assume you mean alternative? Also when you say "black people": who are you actually speaking about?
Here are a list of bands that have "African American" people featuring in them:

The Bad Brains are an influential American all-black hardcore punk and reggae band, originally formed in Washington, D.C. in 1977. They are widely regarded as being among the pioneers of hardcore punk.

Originally formed as a jazz fusion ensemble, the Bad Brains developed a very fast and intense punk rock sound, which was both musically complex and more extreme than most of their punk rock contemporaries. The Bad Brains are one of the first American hardcore punk bands, commonly cited by many fans as the first hardcore band, though this is not surprisingly under persisting debate. They were also an adept reggae band, in a sort of Jekyll-and-Hyde arrangement, while later recordings featured elements of funk and heavy metal. The Bad Brains were also notable as religious Rastafarians.

The Bad Brains broke up and reformed several times over the years, sometimes with different singers and/or drummers. The group's classic lineup features singer H.R., guitarist Dr. Know, bass guitarist Darryl Jennifer, and drummer Earl Hudson.

The Dead Kennedys are a hardcore punk band from San Francisco, California. Attacking assumptions of the political left and right with humor, their music mixed the more experimental elements of English punk with the energy of the American punk scene. The Dead Kennedys officially disbanded in 1986.

Whole Wheat Bread is a punk/pop punk band from Jacksonville, Florida. They have built a reputation and some fame because all of their members are African-Americans, an uncommon thing in the pop-punk scene.

Nick Largen was arrested in early June 2006 in Amherst, NY on charges of first degree robbery. The band continues to tour and have not cancelled a single show and there are not any plans to. The band has a full US tour planned for summer 2006 with MxPx, Streetlight Manifesto & Reel Big Fish plus a couple upcoming shows with punk legends Rancid, and then another U.S. tour with The Bouncing Souls. It confirmed that C.J. (aka "Johnny Rock") from Atlanta-band El Pus (formerly on Virgin Records) will be playing bass for the rest of Whole Wheat Bread's tour.
The band is putting out a new EP in summer 2006 called Punk Life. The EP will contain some songs that are a mix between "crunk" style of rap and pop-punk.

no why
cause we don't have jealous grude on people
we don't hate on a race we hate a individual person
other people turn music around seem like we holding a grude
we don't it all the truth
we talk about what we only go though
that why we like rap and poem to tell our story's about this shameful world we live in.

Well William DuVall (the current lead singer of Alice in Chains) is black, or half at least. He actually sounds somewhat similar to Layne Staley (the former lead singer who died).
