If the south was to secede from the North today, would you be for it? (give your personal opinion, whether youre from the north or south :)

it seems that more northerners would want the south to secede, more than the south would ever want to, why is this?

I'd be for it. The south is mostly useless.

My Opinion would be,That the south would destroy the North by Creating and alliance between the southern states an South & Central America and Mexico ? Read Harry Turtledove books where the South won the First Civil War.

I would want California to secede from the nation. We contribute nearly 22% to the GNP but only receive around 18% back. We are supporting the low-life states such as Montana, Florida, and Wyoming who receive well over their fair share of the federal tax dollar (all of these are Republican states - no surprise there).

I am from the West. Having been to most Northern and Southern states, I really don't see any appreciable difference between the two.

I live in Minnesota. I'd favor letting them go but we get to keep California.

If David B is right and the Midwest Red States want out. I'd be for that, too.

I've been opposed to block grants all along. We'd get rid of the worst parasites if we could do this.

Here's a new term that I just made up. parastates (like parasites.... get it?). The southern states that suck money out of the Federal Government via block grants so New Yorkers, Californians, and Minnesotans pay for their schools and roads.

no... I wouldn't be for it.. .the country is divided enough without actual warfare... which would break out... meanwhile... Osama would be bombing the crap out of us, because we would be so focused on each other...

we need some leaders that can pull us together instead of demonizing each other...

I'd be for it, because I wouldn't mind losing all those red states. I'm from Illinois.
