My main reason for purchasing the Wii is cause of the Virtual Console Channel. Alot of the games coming out now are either just a crap copy of a better selling title, too complex, overly violent or sexually charged, or just plain stupid. With the Virtual Console Channel the idea is that I will be able to download Super NES, NES, Sega, and N64 games, as well as the fact that the system has backwards compatability with the Gamecube. So as far as game line up for the next three systems this one is already on top.
But the catch here is i dont know how much each of those games will cost. If Nintendo tries to charge per game (SNES, NES, N64, Sega) rather than by service than I may reconsider. What do you think?

Pros-big game selection, cheapest system
Cons-not all the bells and whisltes or best graphics

PS3
Pro-high tech
Con-too high tech, to really enjoy you need the 5k Home theatre system, HD-TV, Blu-ray DVD's, HD-Dobly Surround Sound.
Xbox 360
Pro-Halo
Con-halo isnt out yet

I use my modded Xbox to play retro games on. The emulators for the Xbox work almost as well as most emulators for Windows. That being said, I'm still going to snatch a Wii when the time comes. Just because it's cheap and it looks fun. I'll get along playing that until the prices of the Xbox and PS3 come back down to Earth.

My answer is yes. Get it. But if the main reason you're getting it is just to play retro games, get an Xbox and mod it. Then you can have EVERY SINGLE old Nintendo and Sega game on your Xbox harddrive. For free. I do. There is no sweeter console then a modded Xbox using Xbox Media Center as it's dashboard.

xbox360 isnt even next gen. it was released so far ahead of the next gen systems its like gen 1.5. and halo is completely over-rated.

the wii is going to be a decent system, however i fear you will be charged per game. (not sure, just a feeling)

and the ps3's big deal is that you can play ridge racer. (l o l). even if the system is slightly more expensive then the wii it might still be worth it.

i personally plan on getting both the wii and the ps3. but im going to wait about the wii, if no stunning games come out im just going to skip it.

The best thing is to try the Wii and the PS3 and then decide what you like the best.
