Well you can ask yourself several questions. Could you be pregnant? Have you been overly worried about something? Happy? Angry? Has something traumatic happened to you lately. If you are on birth control, did you take it late? forget about it? something like that. there could be a lot of reasons why your period is a week late, but i would wait until next week and if it still hasnt come, i would go and get a pregnancy test.

Don't worry about it too much. About a year or two ago a similar thing happened, and I didn't get my period for 3 months! It was very bizarre and I still don't know why it happened, but apparently it happens once in a while and it isn't dangerous (believe me, I did my homework by month 2!). I know my first thought was...I'm pregnant! Just because that's a normal reaction, but then I realized there is no way that could be possible (virgin). So don't sweat it, but see your doctor if it goes on too long. :)

It's possible that you are having a cycle change, meaning it may be off by a few days. It happens to me about 3-4 times a year.

There are so many things that can cause this besides pregnancy--among them: weight loss, stress, change in environment, change in social circle. Don't worry about it until you are a couple months overdue, unless you think you are pregnant or seriously ill.
