It was written by a man named John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt whose name sounded the same but was spelled differently. He wrote the song to lament that every time they went out together people would shout his friend John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmit and he would think they were yelling John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt.

I can't remember who wrote it but someone in N.y sure does we had to sing that song every frea@##$%^^&&day in catholic shool at rec. time and on every school field trip. Why did ya hafta gothere I had worked toforget thanks Its backkk. lots of luck post when you find out who please.
