the reason they are rivals is because they are both in the same conference, AFC west. you fight for that number one spot in your conference with three other teams. in this case it is, denver, oakland, kansas city, and san diego. these 4 teams will play each other twice. once at home and once away. this makes up 6 games of 16, so it packs a pretty big punch, and it is important to beat your rivals.
its kind of like two highschool football teams in the same county. both want to be the nest in the county just like both pro teams want to be the best in the conference and become conference champs. BEST ANSWER?????

climate is the the Broncos/Raiders or the Broncos and the Chiefs.....enjoying at domicile or away...... Regardless what the communities information are it somewhat is mostly a competent opposition between the communities. The Chiefs could have a miles better checklist in the 2000s then the Raiders yet oftentimes a loosing team like the Raiders nevertheless can pull an upset of the winnest team in the league. yet I do ought to agree on one element............ bypass Broncos and kick some substantial butt this season...

You don't hate the teams you can beat. The Broncos and Raiders have knocked each other out of contention so many times and Al Davis the Raiders owner fired the Broncos coach and he really seeks revenge when they play the Raiders. If Shanahan has a chance to rub it in believe me he will.

They are rivals because they are in the same division and have been for a long time, they play each other 2 times a year every year. Don't prefer either team.

The two cities take their football way too seriously. I live in Denver, and all I hear are the f-ing Broncos. I'm originally from the Carolina's and am a Panthers fan, if we win...thats great, if we lose...oh well, we have better things to worry about. These fans from the AFC West think that football is everything...it's not. Hopefully that'll answer your question.

When the AFL began in 1960, Oakland and Denver were charter members. They started in the western conference with the Chargers (then based in L.A.), and Dallas (who would later move to Kansas City). Unless one of those teams moves farther east, they should continue their rivalry for years to come. BTW, Because Davis is an idiot, I'd take the Orange Crush.

AFC West Rivals. It mostly dates back to the 1970s. Both had tough defenses and wacky characters on their teams.
