In the great state of California, in particular Los Angeles County, does labor law state that time off for any associate must be accepted; with their own job security to take the day off on a day for a funeral, or wedding?

The Family Medical Leave Act covers immediate families death but not weddings.

The Family Leave Act usually covers funerals and emergencies not usually weddings.

Funerals for immediate family. You can talk to your mgmt team to see if you can get some unpaid time off for a funeral which is not for an immediate family member or a wedding.

Funeral for an immediate family member (mom, dad, brother, sister) yes they do. Grand parent I am unsure. Weddings definitely no. The is an event that people can choose a date. You can't choose when you die unfortunately.
