I've tried all brands including Gibson, Fender, Ernie Ball, etc but in my opinion Dean Markley strings are far superior to any brand....I will never use any other brand again....the tone is better, they last longer if you wipe them down after playing and the price is about the same! Been playing for 30 years, so I know!

i'd say gibson as well... but those are all opinions. you could ask the guys at the music store to show you their best strings and then decide which you like thats not too expensive. they work at a music store for a reason, they know music!

I don't know what they're called but misfits bass guitarist Jerry only has the strings he uses being made and sold.
They probably cost a pretty penny, though.
