Is this your first pregnancy? because if it is, then it may take a bit longer to determine the sex. For first time moms I think it's 18-20 weeks and for second and third time moms I think it can be detected a few weeks earlier. But anyhow, I think you'll just have to wait! Good luck!

It's normally about 5 months pregnant unless your baby is very cooperative during the ultrasound. Getting a 3d or 4d ultrasound wouldn't be very productive because you're not licensed to use it and determine what the sex is. You could be looking at a girl and think it's a boy or the opposite. I'd just wait. Sorry.

not sure about the 3d/4d difference. i had a (2d) with my son when i was about 17 weeks and we could tell. and it all depends on how the baby's sitting too, might not be able to tell even at 20 weeks if the baby decides to turn or close their little legs. :o) (and I wouldn't go too crazy on pink or blue even when you find out...they have been known to be wrong! Mine were correct (the 2 out of 4 that I had...didn't find out with my first 2 but did with my second, I had boy, girl, boy, girl). Enjoy!

Congratulations on your pregnancy!
17 weeks is most likely the earliest, as sometimes a boy's "goods" don't drop until the 16th week. I was 17 weeks when I found out I was having boy/girl twins via a level II ultrasound (2D).
Wishing you happy and healthy 9 months!

Well I think the doctor know best and you was suppose to ask him/her that question. Because i feel we ordinary people will tell you only what we know best which is what happen to us. Just ask the doctor and I hope you will find what you re looking for. But it is better to wait until the babe inside there, bigger enough to handle whatever. Careful ND wait a moment time will come and you will know.

You can find out around five months -- that is when your baby's sex organs are developed enough to really tell. Plus, that is about half way through development in other areas,so your doctor can spot any possible problems.
