My grandmother, an independent businesswoman, paid for my bachelor's degree. I didn't have to wrok my way through college.
My best friend let me stay at his home at his expense when I moved to the east coast and looked for a job. Gave me food and gas money too. Refused to be paid back.
My gastroenterologist cut out a colon tumor in time that hadn't metastisized yet. My cardiologist surgically solved my irregular heart rythem, preventing a heart attack and allowing me a normal life without heavy sedatives or significant risk of heart attack.

When my Mother was on her death bed, I didn't have the courage to stay and hold her hand but didn't want her to die alone. I had been taking care of her until her last surgery. She made me promise I would not put her on life support, but the hospital was so far away from the rest of our family, I decided to put her on it long enough for all of the family to come say their goodbyes. My Aunt (her sister) thanked me for waiting for her. As she held her hand, I left the room because I did not want to see her take her last breath. My Aunt was a retired nurse and very very close to my Mom. She always has said what a very special moment that was for her, but has no idea what she did for me.

A family took me in after my father passed away and I could not stand to live in my own home where we had lived. I was so emotionally distressed that I was at the brink of losing my mind. I was scared to drive and so many other things. They took care of me when my own family would not. I will never forget their hospitality and kindness.

My friends and family have helped me move more times than I can count - and they're still friends! ;-)
Also, a friend and I interviewed for the same job. I got the job, she didn't, and she gave me a little polished stone that said "Dreams come true." She was sooo sweet about it, and I felt terrible for her.
