By lost do you mean you changed the password and don't remember it?
If you can't get into your original EM all you can do is contact the help or service people of your old provider... I know for yahoo you are SOL of you can't get in.
My daughter had her email hacked by a so called friend and they changed the password and hint Qs, but yahoo did not care.
if you can't answer the questions, (they had changed those too)
there is nothing they will do to help.
I hope you have better luck maybe if you think of other things the password will come to you...
