Since i am now learning how to play i've been studying a lot of different guitar players and their styles. There are so many great one's out there like Hendrix, Santana, Prince, Slash, Clapton and so on, but who in your opinion is the best of the best?

Wow, tough question. Really depends on the genre that you like to play. For blues, it's hard to beat Stevie Ray Vaughan, who had horrible technique, but who's playing is simply amazing. For metal, I'd say Yngvie Malmsteen and Randy Rhodes. I believe both were classically trained guitarists. Malmsteen is legendary for his lightning fast arpeggiated riffs. For rock, I'd say Hendrix, Steve Vai and Eddie Van Halen. For jazz/progressive it would have to be Eric Johnson. I could go on and on. Great post!

that is tough thinking peoples opinion of rock those days yet for myself very own that is gotta be Clapton. Even the excellent of the excellent say they do no longer understand how he does what he does with the guitar. Clapton could say Hendrix become the excellent. different greats like JJ Cale, ideas might, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jim internet site shouldn't in any respect be omitted however.

Technically he is not the best but seeing Angus Young of AC/DC run around stage for a couple of hours without a break was something that we won't forget. Slash is good Santana was awesome but they don't compare to Angus's stage show.

I've seen most of the great ones, but Eric Clapton & BB King are a notch above the best of the others IMHO.

Of the ones I've actually seen, it would be Alvin Lee of Ten Years After, Michael Schenker of UFO or the late Rory Gallagher
