is your house always clean? I have 3 kids and my house is not always clean and I was just wondering if that is the norm. I am a college student and don't have the time to keep my house in ship shape and it seems like everyone expects me to My landlord came over today (pounded on the door and then just walked in without even giving us time to get to the door) and started yelling about a few spots on the carpet and that the front and back yard was messy and looked like crap(There is kids toys and bikes out there)well he was being so rude my fiance (a grown man) was almost in tears. and our landlord is a pastor at the church behind our house. so anyways just wondering if I was the only one out there who doesn't have alot of time to spend on house work and yard work.

Give me a break. It is impossible to keep your house clean with three kids. Your landlord needs to get a life. I WOULD SO MOVE IF I WERE YOU and lighten up on yourself! I am a single mom of five kids and my house is a wreck unless its the weekend after i clean.

Yes, honey, this is normal!!! I have 2 kids and 2 jobs. I do have a husband who helps out a lot. He has the house "tidy" by the time I get home from work every day. However, his idea of tidy and mine are 2 different things!!! He really is trying to help me out so I don't feel so overwhelmed, therefore, I never say anything except, "Thank you so much for tidying up. It really means a lot to me!" And it does!! I don't ever go behind him and re-do the work he's just done.

The best way I have found to get around this is to get the kids involved. Even kids 2 years old can help clean up their toys or the dog's toys. By the time they're 8, they can help sort laundry (clean clothes). They know what clothes belong to who and can put them in the appropriate piles. They can also fold their own clothes and put them away. By the time they are 10, they can learn how to actually wash the clothes and start the washer and dryer.

Delegate chores. They live there, too, and they are never too young to learn how to care for their belongings. It will lighten your load tremendously!!!

I have 4 kids and when they were little my house was NEVER tidy. There is a big diffrence in messy and just downright dirty you can do the things that are necessary like clean the bathroom and kitchen but don't worry about the rest. If you have small kids your house will not be neat and tidy till they are grown and out on their own.

messy and dirty are two different things. If your house is a disaster because your dishes have been sitting in the sink for two days that could be a problem, but if its because you have toys around, and clean laundry sitting on the couch ready to be folded I think that is normal of busy families!!

I always make sure my bathroom and my kitchen are clean, and floors are mopped swept and vacummed, all the rest can wait. Your kids are only young for so long!! Just make sure its not dirty!!

Mother of 2 here and my house isn't usually "ship shape" either. It's what I usually call "lived in". You have alot going on.. just do the best you can and that's all you can do.
