The Ionian Islands are a group of islands in Greece traditionally called the Seven Islands. Ithaki known as Ithaka, and Zakynthos known as Zante in English are the two of them.
Ithaca, or Ithaka is an island in the Ionian Sea, in Greece. Homer's masterpiece: The Iliad (1193 -1184 B.C.), and the Odyssey (1184-1174 B.C.) depicted the political, cultural, and social life of this island. It is an independent municipality of the prefecture of Kefalonia which capital, Vathy, has one of the world's largest natural harbors. Ithaca became a popular destination for holiday tourists on day visits from the other Ionian Islands, especially after Prince Charles of Wales and the late Princess Diana of Wales spent part of their honeymoon there.
Zakynthos or Zante the third largest of the Ionian Islands, which was first mentioned in Homer's masterpiece: the Iliad and the Odyssey has also Zakynthos as its capital. It is currently one of the most popular tourist destinations in Greece.
Both islands had various past conquerors and occupations but under the 1864 Treaty of London, Ithaca, along with the islands, were ceded to Greece as a mark of cordiality with Greece's new king, the Anglophile George. 1953 earthquake had destroyed most of the islands' architectures. The Ionian Islands are situated upon one of Europe's most notorious faults, capable of producing earthquakes that could potentially result to both widespread damage and a considerable loss of life.♥

Turkey, I think, although the obvious answer would be Greece. The Persian Wars, including the Battle of Marathon and Thermoplyae, were sparked by the Ionian colonies, which were Greek but located in Turkey. They were in revolt against the Persian Empire, which included Turkey, and the Persians believed the Greeks were giving them aid.
