Sure they could. They would have to have done a great job though. And it would really help if all three of their movies were awesome. You start losing credibility when you make crappy movies.

There are few directors who would be considered 'great' in the first place. Having said that there are a few with a limited output who would be in that list:
Jean Vigo, a French director, who only made four films before dying at the age of 29, is considered as one of the masters of French cinema.
Andrei Tarkovsky, a Russian director of only six feature films, including Mirror, Solaris and Andrei Roublev, would certainly be considered a master.
Orson Welles who continually fought against the Hollywood studios to get his vision on the screen. If he had died after making his first two films; Citizen Kane and The Magnificent Ambersomes, he would still be classed as one of the great directors of all time.
As for Clint Eastwood;personally, apart from The Unforgiven, i would find it hard to call him a great director. He has certainly made some good films but, also some equally bad.

George Lucas has only directed 6 movies (and only two of them, Star Wars and American Graffiti, were any good) and for some reason, everybody thinks he is a great director.......I agree with you about Clint though, he is an excellent director. Is the other movie you're talking about The Unforgiven, because I think that is his best one. And he has directed way more than 3....he's directed like 20...most of them were very good. His last 5 or 6 have definately been better though. If you've never seen Perfect World or White Hunter Black Heart, I recommend them both.

No.
Although it is an accomplishment to direct any great film, let alone more than one, three is not enough. "Best director ever" is fairly meaningless - in something as subjective as film viewing, you'll never be able to award the title to anyone.
And Clint Eastwood has directed far more than three films - some of them truly terrible. True Crime? Blood Work? Oy vey.
The greatest directors are not only those who achieve the amazing task of directing great films - but of managing to do so more than once, over the years, and in different ways.

that is too perplexing to evaluate. They make 2 completely categories of action pictures/genres. that is like comparing Woody Allen and Michael Bay. it quite is greater like a, "do you want action video clips or dramatic video clips?" the two are very reliable directors, yet like I pronounced, they make extremely diverse video clips so that is subjective as to which form of action picture you want.
