We're not really into the Halloween thing or trick-or-treating as a lot of people are but I will pass on what happened a few years ago. We decided to take the kids around for a little while. We try to be courteous and not bother people that don't welcome trick-or-treaters. We thought we had it figured out by the porch lights being on. We stopped at this house that had a porch light on and the kids knocked on the door and said "trick-or-treat". The man wasn't even aware that it was Halloween and did not have any candy on hand so he gave them each a dollar bill. As we drove away I watched his house in my rear-view mirror. The porch light went off when he thought we were out of sight.

Good idea, only hang up is that kids will walk away from your house and tell the next group which will rush your door and many repat visits will happen. Plus all the teens that are out walking around trick or treating with no costume are going to be bugging as well. Good Luck what ever you decide.

Sure, if you're a generous person. Also, look out for increasing visitors. When i was a kid, we'd spread the word quickly about houses that gave out the best candy.. so there's no doubt that you'll get a lot of visitors. Watch out for the ones that come back for seconds and thirds :)

if you live in a really small neighborhood...we had at least 300 to 400 trick or treaters last year...i have them cheap candy...they bus them into our neighborhood from all the surrounding apartment complexes and poorer neighborhoods

rather than give a dollar...buy full size candy bars...you can get them 4 for a dollar for snickers and such at the dollar store

Well candy is best. Kids dont go out trick or treating for the money they are looking for good candy and not any cheat brand they want to the chocolate or bubble gum. Trust me I work with kids and asked them what they wanted they said candy or gum.. Good Luck

If you can afford it there's nothing "wrong" with it. You might consider the possibility of some parent twisting into something sinister. People get some funny ideas.

My kids would love to visit your house on Halloween if you do. Go for it if you can afford it.

No ... go with some kind of healthy snack instead.

Depending on where you live, most little kids don't need the money - they just want a "Treat"
