Humans are more closely related to clams. The domain eukarya pretty much starts with the phyla porifera, or sponges. As there are mutations and such, more organisms are evolved. I don't remember what phyla clams are in, but their split came after porifera, making them closer to humans in the phylogenetic tree.

Definitely clams. Sponges is not the answer. We are more closely related to clams. Trust me.

Molluscs are much more complex animals than sponges, therefore higher on the evolutionary scale, therefore more closely related to humans than sponges are. Both phyla however are very distant relatives of mammals, let alone humans.
