I need suggestions for man, woman and 9 year old child. Not too complicated or requiring a lot of $$. Happy Halloween!

You can make these all out of felt which is very cheap. Are you all going out together as a group? If so, guy is a yellow package of M&M's with nuts "tee, hee". Woman is milk chocolate pkg of m&m's. And kid of course is one of the candies from the package - whatever color.
Or you could be chess peices made of also felt and carboard painted. Man the king, woman the queen, and kid a pawn, rook, or knight.
Or you could all be pieces of fruit, also made with felt, apple orange and banana.

Go as cave man/ woman / child. All you need is some thin animal print faux fur. You wouldn't need to hem the costumes or anything just cut jagged edges. Put real or fake bones in your hair an let your husband carry a club.

Be Egyptians. Get a sheet and cut a hole in the middle. Put you head through the hole. Tie some gold rope or a gold belt around your waists. Put on some sandels. Viola!
