Why do golf balls have dimples?.....
Why do tennis balls have fuzz?
Are these the same reasons?

The dimples provide lift for the ball.
The fuzz slows the ball down.

The dimples and fuzz allow the balls to curve, just like the laces do on a baseball.
Controlling that curve, is what makes sports stars out of mere men!

The dimples grab the air to make the ball go farther as the same reason the fuzz grabs the air to make the ball go a longer distance

It helps airflow. Air will flow straight around a smooth ball. this creates a pocket of dead air behind the ball, which slows the ball down.

The dimples create disruptions in the airflow, which disturb the pocket of dead air, so the ball is no longer slowed down.

Tennis balls have fuzz to slow them down, so that observers can actually see the ball. It has nothing to do with physics
