If I deserved it, I'd take it but if I didn't, I'd defend myself.

I am 6' tall and of athletic build so no one has ever done that. Maybe if you carried a big stick, or if your in Az. or TX you should carry a pistol. The thing is that I am sure I had bosses who wanted to raise their voice to me and they did not. Granted the same feelings that stoped them probably caused some passive aggressive results but the thing is that no one has to be rude if they do not want to be. Try doing this, ask "Are you trying to intimdate me??" my guess is that person will know they have been called out and change their tune.

When I was boss and the supervisees would do aggravating things I would look them in the I and ask,,,are you trying to aggravate me, and even the most troublesome offenders always backed down.

Get a copy of "I'm OK your OK" read and understand it and then you can stop the games.

In a very calm voice, tell your boss that yelling and screaming does not accomplish a task and lowers morale and productivity. And that you would prefer to discuss any problems in a calm and professional manner and come up with resolutions to whatever the problem is.
Then if that doesn't work and if there is an HR (Human Resources) in your work, then you should talk to an HR rep about the situation.

Stand there and stare at him/her.....nod head in agreement....and walk away.

Or we could yell and scream back and make an *** of ourselves. Become our boss.

Or we could threaten to report him/her for harassment and emotiional abuse. Wonder how that would go over?

Or we could continue to speak in a calm and quiet voice when it is your turn to talk back to your boss.....kill him/her with kindness.
I have tried that...it works. Staying calm always works.....but don't go home and let out all the things you wished you had said....don't hold in anger and resentment.....it will only hurt you and the ones you love.

Boss or not I wouldn't stand there and there and listen to anyone yell at me. If he/she had something to say to me they could say it with respect or I won't have the respect to listen.

Ask him point blank, and calmly, if he thinks he can find somebody else to do your job better. If he thinks he can, no point sticking around. But that should shut him up. If you're still there, it's because he needs you.
