I will be graduating this december, but I will not be 18 until the following september. A lot has happened with my family and its not enough to be considered "abusive" but its enough to cause problems. Recently I've moved out of state and want to move back to the state I was in. I will have a reliable place to stay, and the manager of the job I had before I moved agreed to let me have my job back once I moved back.

Everywhere I look it says you have to be 18 or emancipated, but the state I live in doesnt allow emancipation. But I cant find anything on whether or not I can move out after I have graduated or not. I know in the state I came from once you graduate you have all the rights of being 18.

Right now I am in tennessee, so does anyone know the laws about moving out here

1. can I legally move out?
2. If I move out anyways can my parents claim I'm a run away?
3. If I go back to the state that considers I'm 18 can they make me move back?

Well, I do not condone running away from home, so if you want to leave after you graduate, talk to your parents before you do so. If you graduate at 17, get a full time job, and can establish your own residence, I do not think the state would step in and force you to return to your home. Especially if you claim that your home enviroment was abusive. If they do want to force you to return home, I am sure it would go to family court first and by the time the long drawn out legal system works, you will have celebrated your 18th birthday. But like I said, I would not run. I would make sure everyone and everybody knows of your intentions to leave and I would file a change of address. This way if it did go to court, it would show you were being an adult and not an immature kid running away from home. Good luck.

I am sorry to say that I don't know the answers to all your questions. But I will say, if you graduated from High School, and have a place to stay and a job, I don't think anyone can make you move back. Good luck. You have all the requirements for emancipation, so if they try, get emancipated.

You are are still a minor. Have you talked to your parents about moving out. I hope you are not going to just leave without telling them. If your situation is bad, do you have any relatives or friends you can stay with until you turn 18? If you will have a reliable place to stay and a job, go for it. As long as you are not on the streets. I don't know know much about that law. I wish you luck.

1.) No I am in TN and the legal age is 18 ( GA is 17 tho)
2.) Yes (and you can go to jail)
3.) Most likely...depends on the states laws in detail.

you can legaly move out at 12 as long as you parents co-sign the lese agreement

if your parents dont ley you than you can "devoce" your parents....so to speek...called an emansipated minnor (or howerver you spell it)....but if you do this....then you will lose all parrental legaly supported...but since your 17....not that big of a deal

get a PO box in another state allows you to emanciupate....like WA or CA (ones you can do it over the internet)

it's hard to do anything when you're a minor! It mainly depends on where you live, but most places want you to be at least 18.

Enroll in College in the town you used to live in. Can your parents fight you on that?
