Not at all, it is the best milk a child can have. Now on the other hand it has to be a stopping period, because a woman cannot continue breastfeeding till the child turns 12. I figure another few months and then it needs to stop. This child is going to school next year, and what will mother do? I feel the more I think about it that they are both too attached to each other at this time. And for your wife is a way to keep her daughter still a baby, but she is not.

Well= now she can say - MOM I am thirsty- can I have a drink- in this culture it is odd- and she will be going too school when she is 5- unless homeschooled- it is different- and sounds like it may have stopped her ovulation= I would say the colstrum is gone- so no immune system benefits from it= this child should be eating solid food- she needs the nutrients and fiber from real food. So she should not be getting a lot of breastmilk- that is too much closeness for too long=may cause problems-ask her md- D

Breastfeeding is no longer helpful after age 1. All this will do now is cause weird psychological connections between your daughter and breasts. If this continues into a time when she starts school, she will get made fun of for this. You need to tell your wife to stop breastfeeding your child. She is not an infant.
This would probably be considered grounds for sexual abuse if it ever comes to a teacher's attention, too. You could lose your daughter.

Some thing happened to the bond between your wife and daughter. Probably something traumatic for the baby. Or the mother was doing something like...changed her diet or start taking pain meds for awhile because of an injury or something. When mommy either lost the weight she wanted to or stopped taking what ever it was. They were able to RE-bond. Now the child is being for the lack of better words "clingy" to her mother. as a result Your wife's body started to lactate. misconstruing this action as a need to breast feed. It is Not healthy for the mother to breast feed after the child develop es teeth. as this could be damaging to the ariola area of the breast.

Extended breastfeeding
Some mothers and babies enjoy breastfeeding so much they are in no hurry to stop. Family members and friends may feel uncomfortable about it, but don’t give in to pressure if you and your child are happy.
It is not unusual for children up to four years to continue to be breastfed. The World Health Organisation recommends breastfeeding children up to the age of two years.
If your child’s only means of relaxation is to breastfeed, it may be useful to help them learn other ways to soothe themselves.

1st of all your daughter should have stopped being breastfed a loooonnngggg time ago...it's time that ya'll let that kid grow up a little, I mean she's gonna be starting school soon (if not already) and she can't be drinking breast milk. I hope she's out of diapers by now.

Stay away from that it could affect the psychology of the child in a negative way. Three years old is to old.

At four years old? Mom's getting a thrill. It's probably ok nutritionally, but socially I would think it would be unacceptable. If she starts again now, when will she quit? Check with your pediatrician.

That is considered child abuse and protective services will investigate you and your wife to make sure neither of you were sexually abused during your lives. Your daughter could be taken away from you.
