I got a fine of $111.50 for fishing without carry the licence on me. I didnt carry the licence with me because the park is dark and nobody is actually there and the only thing i got with me is a rod and baits. The park ranger told me it wont cost me more than $25 if i show my licence in court. But when the bill came, it was $111.
Do you think that the fine is right or excessive? Is it possible to ask the court to lower it?

im in california

25 dollars is not excessive. You must be able to prove you have a license, it is the law. I am just glad they check them somewhere because in Minnesota they rarely check.

To lower the fee you must go to court & show DA that you have a current license. Then you pay court cost but no fine. Good luck!

just show ur licence in court, if u dont have it goto a sporting goods store and get a re-print of it, its like 10 bucks and u get out of all of it scott free.. Just say u fell in the drink and lost ur licence.. odds are the ranger wont be there to testify so u get away for free

If I observed that element putting off of your backpack, i might grab the closest heavy, blunt merchandise, strike you on the top with it, and scouse borrow that entice from you. My entice. a minimum of now it gets new hooks and could take excitement in being fished with somewhat than displayed on a backpack on an analogous time as puzzled college teenagers gawk at it.

you need to be a little sneakier, that is a rather big fine from what the ranger told you.
