2.5+3.5=6 (miles/hour)....
15/6=2.5 hours

The answer is 2.5 hours.
6 miles/hour is the combined rate of the two people. It means that in an hour, they will together jog 6 miles. It's takes 2.5 hours to finish 15 miles.

A really long time if they are not headed towards each other, and have to go all the way around the earth. How do we even know that these are the two friends who live 15 miles apart? Perhaps say "Two friends (Tanya and Kelly) live..."

Each our, the distance between them is reduced by 2.5+3.5 mi=6mi. Since they live 15mi apart, the time taken=15/6
