these are ratios in simplest forms

You need to convert both sides to the same unit of measurement.

In the case of 6 inches:2 feet, that means

6 inches: 24 inches

or, alternatively, 0.5 feet: 2 feet

The ratio is therefore 1:4
or if you have to express the ratio as "n:1"
it is 1/4:1

or, if you prefer the answer expressed with a decimal, it is 0.25:1

both are correct, either one can be used. The first one is better for science if you're doing something with it...

I guess you could put it as 3 in to 1 foot, or really to 1 inch to 4 inches if you really wanted i guess....but i don't remember simplification very well...
