The truth is that all nations in history have had their heyday, then faded away. I hope we're not to that point, but it will come eventually.
The key point to remember is that empires do NOT fall from external attack. They fall from internal corruption. As soon as the people who control the treasury start to use it to line their own pockets, as soon as the peoples' representatives start representing themselves and their friends more than their nation and its people, the decline has begun, and the fall cannot be far off.
Today, we are growing in debt. We are shipping our economy overseas. We are becoming LESS independent every day. All that would have to happen to bring the US to its knees would be for OPEC to decide that they don't want our money any more. And when China gets big enough, OPEC will be able to decide who it sells to. An Islamic revolution in Saudi Arabia, and we're in a world of hurt. Just like happened to Rome when Egypt stopped sending it wheat. Just like happened to Britain when the North American Colonies stopped propping up its government with taxes on cotton and tobacco.
So what does it take to turn this around? I don't know. But I hope we find it. Because I think the USA is the best nation ever, and I pray it survives the test.

I do not think we will fall, if we do, it's certainly not because of the wonderful citizens of this country. I do not think we as a government, by the people for the people, will allow such a downfall. We still elect and can and will use the power of impeachment, which should of been done already and seems imminent. I love my country as well, "we will over come". Think how far, black skinned Americans, Indian Americans, women, Latino-Americans, many other groups have come. Gay Americans are still fighting. As long as we do not stop singing and screaming our songs, "we will over come". This to will pass. We are not the Roman or British empire, we crossed that bridge, a long time ago. We didn't burn the bridge and that's what I'm not sure of. Like N.Korea, we've been there, we crossed that bridge, but we didn't burn it. Like we have to be repeating history, which seems to be the theme, the way of life. You are a good person, I can tell. There are plenty more of your types, more than the others, believe that. Go with it. I got your back...
God bless us all...

being a patriot means loving your country, not following the government blindly. people need to relize that. that is why we have the right to revolution, and i believe that its about that time. yes, if we as u.s. citizens do not stand up and do something the united states will fall, and sooner than expected. we cant even trust our own voting system any more. the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. the worst part is these people that run the country get richer off of all of it when they are the ones hurting this country. if people really did love thier country, than the would do what they could to make it a better place and in order to make it a better place we must first throw the corrupt, the war mongers, and the greedy out of control, we would need a revolution. i do my best to make people aware of this, and i know when the time comes than i will be in the front lines fighting for the good of my country wich i love.

well...fortunately, we've recovered from many bad presidents in the past....but sometimes it sure does feel like we're headed for a collapse. Check out some of those conspiracy websites, I don't go along that line of thinking, but sometimes they make a pretty good case. It can get scary thinking about it too much!

We don't rule the world. If we did this North Korea thing would have never occured, Chavez wouldn't even have been known, and Iraq wouldn't have been invaded. I doubt this country will fall from trying to run the world because it can't.
