Now, first you have to understand the whole thing.at around 2:30 on monday, my four year old started throwing up. I took her to the doctor and all they said was that she had the stomach flu. I couldn't manage to keep anything in her, not even a teaspoon of pedialite. At around 6:30 that evening, all five of my kids, all under 6, were vomiting. I called their doctor and he told me just let them get through it by themselves. I decided to take them to the hospital. So here I am taking five kids to the ER, they are puking all over my car and each other, all i can do is tell them they will be ok. So when we got to the hospital, they looked over the kids and sent us home. Again i took them to the ER and finaly they gave them an IV and tested for diseas or poisoning, all tests were negative. Still they sent us home, this time with some suppositories and super strong nausea medication. I have tried pedialite, gatorade, everything. I am starting to try to fast them until they are a bit better.

When the details are that long . I skip them and just answer the question at the top. I would throw a vomit party and invite the nurses. Good Luck ! :)

okay #1 do these children have fever? #2 have they eaten the Ecoli tainted lettuce? #3 did they all eat the same thing . You say they are all under six, I would be concerned about dehydration they are still very young small bodies cannot handle the effects of continual vomiting like say a teenager or adult. Try unsalted crackers, a piece of toast(dry),ginger ale. Also there is a product it is a type of charcoal they have it at the pharmacy it works really well, it is used to help calm the stomach, ask the pharmacist sorry I can't remember the name of it. make sure to have thorough hand washing by all of the children. Paper grocery bags lined with the plastic grocery bags are great for keeping next to the little patients, I am curious have they been to the park/swimming human waste traces left by overfilled diapers that are worn when using park or pool can be the cause. good luck ! Please above all maintain your patience ask family or friends for help. And maybe you can start looking for M.D.

In my opinion, you are right to fast them, the food or other items can irrate the stomach even more. I have a special needs child and we fast her first and use suppositories, for her size. It helps her sleep and lets her stomach rest for a little while, then we try cold pedialite a teaspoon at a time. Make sure you have lots of basins around until the suppositories work and some cool wet wash rags for the foreheads.

Let them rest and don't fuss too much. Give them a few sips of 7-up or Sprite or ginger ale every now and then, and please remind them it will help them get better if they'll drink some water you offer every hour. I have no idea what the suppositories are for. Are you in the UK?

No Gatorade. That stuff makes me vomit, especially the red.

You could offer some chicken noodle soup too, but don't expect them to eat it up. This will pass. Just do your best.

Thinking back to when my kids were that young..
7-UP was always on hand, as were suckers. I believe we kept popsicles on hand, for when their tummys became a bit more acceptable of things. Chicken broth, with a few oyster crackers, working their way up to chicken noodle.
We always had on hand empty ice cream buckets, and set these by each sons bed..
Sometimes, the 'bug' just really has to work itself out of their systems..
Ask a relative or a friend, to come and stay a few days with you, and help you through this..
You and the children will get through this , and promise yourself a good days worth of sleep when it happens.. until then, know that you're doing good luv..

Aside from the vomiting, any other symptoms? Have they had any fever or rashes recently? Did they all eat the same thing before they started vomiting?

You're correct in trying to fast them to give their GI system a break. When you start to feed them again, start with clear liquids, then soups, soft foods, then a full diet.

Barring any other details and the fact that ALL 5 of the kids were vomiting, I'd say that it was something that they ate. Unless they start vomiting blood, greenish colored liquid, or have accompanying high fevers, >102F or >39C, I'd relax a bit.

Give them lots of water... skip the soda.

I don't know your location, but in Canada we have a medicine called Gravol and I'm certain there's a child's version.

If you need more details about this medication to see if it or something similar is available in your area, email me: enid007@hotmail.com
