Jane Austen- she also wrote Pride & Prejudice, Emma, Sense & Sensibility, Mansfield Park and a couple of other novels. All are set in Regency England. Persuasion was made into several different movie versions, but the best is with Amanda Root, Sophie Thompson and Ciaran Hinds.

Jane Austen-a pathetic attempt to give some literary pretencions to a deeply silly movie.
It's a great book that did not deserve to be sullied in that way.
