Keep bleeding the line until all the air is gone. Also check the pressure on the boiler, as you bleed the lines the pressure will go down so you need to bring it back up, bleed the radiator more if necessary and check the pressure again. Typical pressure is around 20psi....your boiler should say what is recommended on a plaque on the unit

Lack of pressure in the system may be the reason you only get a little air out.

The process of bleeding radiators is performed to release the air trapped inside.
Keep going until all of the air is gone and you get water, then stop.
btw, if you are in a place with more than one story, start at the top floor and bleed all of the radiators, then work your way down.

Sounds like there is no pressure on your heating system.Water will still circulate but,not very good. Most hot water heating systems have an automatic water feed valve to maintain the water pressure in your system. You should check and make sure the water supply to the automatic valve is turned on. Usually you should run around 12 PSI. It will go higher when the sytem is hot. Not knowing what kind of hot water system you I can guess it is an older one. Even than you should have a water feed on the system. The ones that I know about have an adjusting screw on top that lower or raise the pressure.

Sounds to me like your radiator is either not full of fluid (look for a leak) or has a pinch in a pipe about one third the way up.

Check your supply water. The valve should be open or inline with the pipe. When you open the vent new water should be supplied and if not your supply water is shut off.

Have you removed the top radiator hose?
