Potatoes vary greatly in shape and size. Some are very small & some quite large. Some are nearly round & others quite ovoid, some are even strange shapes like that of a molar tooth or a boomerang. So really there's no single "potato shape".

There is no specific shape to a potato. Potatoes come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, but the most common ones are usually oval. Ofcourse, they aren't specified to be oval because potatoes have all sorts of dips and disfigurements that any shape wouldn't possibly discribe it.
