I noticed a lot guys who were straight at the time acted to straight that one wouldn't figure out if he is gay, but just recently I noticed that a lof guys who are supposed to be straight are the most gay. What is the reason behind this? Are the guys that we see in our daily lives, are majority of them gay? Is there a percentage as to how many is and how is not?

I act like myself, as I am sure you act like yourself.

Just because a person does not fit your personal stereotype of what that type of person is supposed to be like does that make it somehow sinister in your mind?

If so I would rethink a couple of things.

Those "supposedly straight" gay guys are not "acting" straight? How do you act straight in the first place? Gay guys who are effeminate are considered to be heterosexually gay. Think about that for a minute as to why effeminate gay guys are heterosexually gay. The "supposedly straight" gay guys that you came across with are not under the delusion that they are female (at least a heterosexual female, anyway). They know that they are guys and act the way guys are "supposed" to act, no matter what sexual preference that may have. These gay guys may behave in an assertively and aggressively masculine manner because they are indeed masculine, and acting like a broad wouldn't suit their character, personality, or style. Think of these guys as being VERY in touch with reality! See them as being "down-to-earth" because that's what they are. I have a question for you: Why is it that every time a guy announces that he is a gayperson, that gay guy has become required (generally by society) to behave like a woman, mock and imitate a woman like a parrot, (often a female heterosexual) as if he wants to be a woman (usually a heterosexual woman)? Does a guy (all guys in general) really have to be effeminate to be gay? Notice this: Guys who mimic women, especially guys dressed in drag, are usually not very flattering and appealing and are often laughable and ridiculous. The hint might have gotten to some gay guys.

These days, the description of the quintessential homo has changed to ambiguous at best. We've become so accustomed to seeing Jack from Will & Grace as the standard gay man, that we forget all about his opposite, Will. Damaging stereotypes and generalizations of queers from the olden days still linger on today.

We gay people are a diverse and broad group of individuals, who come in all shapes and sizes and personalities and dress. When many people think about gay men, they automatically associate them with certain stereotypes and generalizations, such as feminine behavior or a certain type of clothing.

You should know, however, that for every gay man that fits that mold, there is another that does not.

Some feel it appropriate to go on these "gay witch hunts" in an attempt to figure out any man that dares wear a pink button down to the company picnic. Should any person be reduced to such superficial characteristics? The lines of gay/straight are forever blurred now that straight men are starting to care about their looks. Walk past any salon and you'll not only see men in the manicure seat, but you'll notice a full line of services for men. Haven't you also noticed the onslaught of male fashion mags and billboards? These things aren't marketed towards an exclusive group of gay men. Companies are seeking the growing number of men (straight or gay) that prefer a close shave over a smelly "me-a-man" bum. Straight men are now wearing the latest hair styles, high end clothes and jewelry. My straight cousins spend more time in the mall than I do!

People are just people ...i stopped putting people into little boxes years ago ...the screaming when i tried to put the lid on was awful!

You dont like to be marginalized ...why do it to others? Evolve a little its easy ...promise!

People is just people matey, enjoy them hugs!

I didn't know gay people had a certain way of having to act. Why is it so surprising that not every gay person on the planet wants to run around with glitter and a tiara skipping through fields of daisies? I say, blame the media. They are the ones who's given gay people that stereotypical image. And yes, a lot of the guys that you "see in your daily life" probably ARE gay, (or at least a lot more than you probably realize) just like anybody else, gay people have "ordinary daily lives" too, not all of them are flamboyant 24/7.

Well why do straight people act gay? I go to a college in San Diego and I see men holding hands with women obviously straight and are the most effeminate men.. This is just a stereotype..there is no such thing as "acting" straight or Gay its just in your mind. Its all how you been brought up too! some man may have all sisters so he may be more fem. We live with the choice of acting Gay or straight and some people just think they need to be a certain way so they just act it out..

Very good question, and the whole answer would be long.

What is gay "acting"? There are lots of gay guys, and they act like themselves, not like some stereotype. Some gays are very str8-acting. Many guys who str8 people think of as "gay-acting" aren't gay at all. Confusing? oh but that's how it is. You'll know if they want you to.

Percentage-wise, I've heard as low as 3 percent and as high as 10 percent. I lean more toward the 10. Yeah, that would be 15 million gay men, and 15 million gay women in the USA alone. And, personally, I think the bisexual guys outnumber the gays. Do the math.

Just how are they supposed to act? The personal desires and preferences don't automatically translate to limp wrists and falsetto voices.

Common notions of the 'market share' run from 10-25 percent on the upside by some of the folks here. Other indications are that homosexuals are more likely 1-3 percent of the population. That is, fortunately, far from "most"--fortunately in that male to male and female to female matings do not produce children.

To answer the second half of your question first, no one is absolutely sure what percentage of the population is gay. As far as 'straight acting' gays, it isnt an act. How are gays supposed to act? how are straights supposed to act? We arent all cut from the same cookie cutter.

lots of people who are straight seem to be gay and vice versa. Perhaps some of the straight guys you think act gay are afraid to come out or don't know that they are gay yet and maybe just maybe they are straight. lol. Why do people need to label everyone?!?

There is a lot of gray areas when it comes to human behavior. Some people will never know if that person is gay or straight. But, then, I'm Bi, and not too many know.
