The last time I tried to answer a question like this, I got voted off the island!

Bettas are attracted to colors and flare. (lots of fin action),

He may kill your fantails and it may just ignore them, but I doubt it.

Bettas are sensitive to two major things, chlorine and ammonia. Fantail goldfish give off a lot of ammonia.

Good Luck and Take Care.

yes they can live in the same aquarium... but only for a while. I'm sure bettas will eliminate the fantails really quick.

It not a good idea. Bettas prefer much warm water than goldfish. Plus they are the worst type of betta tank mate. Slow, and fancy of tail. A mellow betta might flare a bit, and then settle down. Most bettas would decide to thunder dome* it, and only the betta would come out alive.

I don't think bettas can live with any other fish not even other bettas, but i don't know wat a fantail fish is so i can't really tell u a full answer. But i do know that bettas are bred to be fighting fish and extremely aggressive fish

fantails are goldfish... you should keep goldfish with other goldfish because of the temperatures they can tolerate... Bettas can be put into a tropical (freashwater) community tank.

I owned a Beta along with 20+ other fish and couldn't figure out why 5-7 fish were dying a day...till they were all gone...except Charlie, the Beta. I went to the store to ask maybe some sort of chemical was killing them. The guy said Beta's will fight any kind of fish to the death... my Beta was renamed from 'Charlie' to 'killer', and lived out his life out as a loner... and that made him happy.

if you want to keep them together you need a large aquarium. even then you may have problems with pecked fins.
