hmm....how about El día de los muertos. It's a mexican tradition celebrating the lives of loved one passed. It's coming up on November 2. It's culturally rich. You can talk about the custom itself or the history of the custom (which is FASCINATING. It has la gente indigenas (indigenous people of mexico), mariposas (butterflies), los conquistadores, (catolocismo) catholicism, los flores (flowers) and more. You could probably put together a killer power point or poster.

You might also look into Cinco de Mayo or el 16 de Septiembre (I forget what that one is called).

If you don't want to do Mexican Culture, maybe you can try España (Spain). The running of the bulls might be interesting or the tomato throwing festival (I forget it's name as well).

OR you can write about some of the famous spanish artist/ writers. Nick Quijano, Miguel de Cervantes, Salvador Dahli, Francisco de Goya, Jose Guadalupe Posada, Sandra Cisneros, Gabriel Garcia Marquez. There are LOTS of them out there.

Hope this help.

You can find any of this stuff in wikipedia.

Well I assume you had a class or something on the hispanic heritage month. I would start with an outline and then write from there. I suggest you start by highlighting key statistics of the large influx of hispanic communities nationwide vs 10 and 20 or more years ago. You can talk about who started the Hispanic Heritage month, when, why, and who celelebrates. You could compare this to the black history month etc as historical or in pracctice comparison.

you could also have a few short paragraphs that describe the very different types of hispanics, (born in US, born out of US, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South American descent, and so on.

The key is to read a bit, put a quick outline together and then start writing. Be sure to read the essay outloud to be sure it makes sense. use strong first sentences and good examples throughout your writing.

Good luck

Living in Miami, I would suggest the Cuban regimen. Epically since Castro gave power to his brother Raul. This would make an Easy 2 page essay. Start from the Cuban Revolution (where Castro took power from Cuban president Batista.) to Now.

Good Luck!

If you are Hispanic - you could write such an essay from the top of your head. If you aren't Hispanic - talk about how Hispanic Americans have left their mark on American society.
