I am looking for fun ideas to raise funds to fix and improve the local kids playground. And I dont want to sell chocolate bars, cookies, or calendars. The funnest idea gets 10 points. BTW, this is a small town, about 1000 people. Thanks :)

I've done several fundraisers. I raised a large amount with a "Mutt Make-Over Contest". I enlisted the donated services of a local groomer (for the make over grooming), a local pet shop (who donated a doggie bed), a local photographer (for the before & after picture) and a local limo company (to pick up the winning dog and drop off the winning dog). Each of these local business's donated their services. The newspaper loved the idea and did a nice large article about it. People were asked to send in pictures of their dog, with their information on the back of the picture and a $10.00 entry fee. We raised over $700.00 and even had people send in a picture with the fee but said their dog didn't need a make over. I placed the pictures on a large piece of cardboard and let the groomer choose the winner. It turned out great. We picked up the dog, took her to the groomer where I tood a before picture. The groomer called when the dog was done and I drove her (with her pink toenails and sparkly tierra) and went to the pet shop where the dog "picked" out her new bed. Then off to the photo studio where a professional picture was taken of the dog laying her on new bed along with her new toy. I later sent the picture to the dog's "mommy". They were just thrilled.
When our local town built a new play ground, they sold individual pickets for the fence that went around the playground. The pickets listed the purchasers name on the picket, engraved with a wood burner.

Hi!

For raising funds you should sell some of the right to use the spaces in the playground to the most important companies / families of the town.

You may also try with Toys companies or Food Companies.

Basically:

1- You go and visit them (Public Relations / Community Relations Dept)

2- Explain what are your original ideas to reform the place

3- Give them exclusivity of advertisign or doing certain events where you will publically recognize the apportation of this companies / families

4- Usually the community center, the city office, is very involved into improving conditions of public spaces, so you can do a pretty nice initiative if you approach them too.

The main idea is that you are giving wellbeing to the community by reforming the playground and give public recognition to those who help you in that.

You need commitment and perseverance as if you were selling cookies, but this is kind of higher initiative.

Good luck
