I live in China and I can assure you that China does not want war, however if the US does anything to provoke a confrontation, then China would reply for its own best interests. The problem with North Korea is an example. If the US invades or bombs North Korea, there are mutual protection treaties in force with both North Korea and Russia, so China could be dragged into the war and respond accordingly. China can mount an army of over 300,000,000 soldiers (equal to the entire population of the US) and despite ideas that it is a backward country...think again...China has orbited the earth with a rocket, has nuclear subs and atomic weapons and a rather large fleet of ships, and if it is confrotational, then Russia has some of the fastest planes in the military. Numerous satellites orbit the earth...launched from China, and there is a tremendous amount of currency (Dollars, Eurodollars, etc) available to sustain a war. At the moment, China is interested in developing education, agriculture, industry and the over all economy of the nation. The CIA has predicted that China will be the major power within 15 years, and I suspect it won't take quite so long. There is a great deal of motivation here...many people continue to study long after they have a job just to improve themselves and make the country better. More people speak English in China than in the US. China is the third largest giver of food aid to other countries, producing a very large part of the wheat and corn supplies of the world. This is from the industry of the people...and we don't have the nagging problem of racism (I am a minority of one in a city of 2 1/2 million people). China has no interest in expansionism and sees the major problems that confront the US...outsourcing, lack of work ethics, drugs, crime, loss of allies, unreasonable labor costs, the welfare system, pollution without abatement, illegal immigration and such. We do have crime here but few drug problems (punishment for drug dealers is death). New superhighways are being built virtually monthly, the train system spans the country providing economical transportation, there is a vigorous campaign in place to control pollution. The government has diplomatically achieved oil exploration rights with many nations and has provided needed assistance to help those countries develop.....does that sound like a nation that is prepared to waste lives or money on war?

never. not only do we depend on china and visa versa but the last time we fought with china it didn't go over so well.(vietnam/korean war). not to mention that now china is an industrialized nation not only would we lose billions perhaps even trillion of dollars and an uncountable number of life's but we would gain nothing, probably be forced into a stalemate(or even lose) but their is little if any reason to do so in the first place.
