Color blindness is a sex related disorder with the gene responsible for it sited on X chromosome, therefore for a female to be color blind, 2 defected X chromosomes are needed versus males can be color blind if their only X chromosome is defected. This means for a female to be colorblind, the mother has to be a carrier and the father has to be colorblind.
