Better than GM suvvies or a Durango. But the Japanese four wheel drive vehciles are distinctly more reliable.

I agree with the posting suggesting an Explorer V8 instead of that shaky V6 engine, if you decide on an Explorer.

I have one I have driven for work over the past 6 year. It is a 1999 and has 175,000 miles on it. The ONLY repair I have had to do is replace the tranny at 120,000 miles. Like most vehicles, proper maintenance is key.

I had a 2004 Explorer and had NO problems with it, I just traded it in for a 2007 Expedition and LOVE it. My husband drives a 2005 F150 and has had no problems with it either. Prior to that I had a 2003 Escort and had no problems with it.

Ever since 1980 Ford has been crap.
I had bought 10 up to that point and then their engines got lousy, and they wouldn't honor their warranties.
Since then have bought anything but Ford. Mostly Chrysler.
