If you are speaking of the - between dates on your headstone to your grave, it represents your life. It represents how you lived and loved and treated people. People will remember you by that dash and what kind of person you were through those years.

At death. In your obituary. Mr. (fill in the blank) died in his sleep ------ Sunday, May 1978. See the dashline just after the word "sleep" ? That is the dashline of your life. Good Luck ! :)
