i was going to play halo with some friends this weekend and was wondering if u could use a normal telephone cord to connect the xboxes instead of buying a system link

Unourtunatley no you can not use a telephone cord but iam not sure if maybe you can use a LAN cord if that doesnt work then i guess your stuck buying a link system!!!

a standard network cable will not work, you would need a cross-over cable or the microsoft system link cable. the standard network cable will only work if you are attached to a router or hub.

ethernet cable should work if you are going to system link.

phone cables are a different size and a manufactured different, so no it wont work.
You need an ethernet cable, they aren't very expensive.
