They have no-one at home to help them perhaps?

My child will ask me exactly the same kinds of questions and I will sit down and explain them to her. I admit that when I was a kid that would have been considered cheating. Today, a successful student is one who has parents who will go over homework with them and take up the slack of what was not taught at school. Teachers have no time to do the job properly any more. No Child Left Behind Act has worsened the situation.

Perhaps these children have no-one to ask except us (on Yahoo answers). I don't mind giving them assistance.

Sometimes it just takes one example of the correct answer and they "get it" for the next time.

The children don't expect it ,the parents just do it !
let them do their own work ,anything not done goes back unfinnished to school with a note to the teacher to explain more about the current problem that was left unsolved !

Lazy. Kids these days expect everything to come easy. They don't want to work for anything.

Due to the results they're getting, it shows that they can ask and we will do it for them. To them it is an effective method, so why not keep doing it that way? They don't realize they are hurting themselves by not learning how to do it.

Children feel homework as a burden. That’s our responsibility to overcome their fear.

I agree. But I'm only a couple years out of high school, so I remember how lazy I was.

some might think their answers are not good enough
they might have low self-esteem & think what they might write is dumb but if their parent or someone online does it it will or must be right
