Well, for one thing, you should not let the problem go on any longer. If you don't understand, you need to do something about it since (especially in math) the knowledge builds upon itself. If you don't understand a concept not, eventually a new concept will come along which pre-supposes you already know how to do what was taught to you before..and then your in double the trouble.

If you don't feel that going to YOUR teacher will work, perhaps there are other math teachers in your school that can help.
Even if the teacher you go to does not teach that subject (or even math in general) they all had to have taken that class sometime in the past, and likely several levels beyond that. Perhaps you can go to your schools Algebra II teacher or Calculus teacher and ask for help.

Also, try to identify the specific areas you do not understand so that you can focus your work.

Hi. Honestly, try "Calculus for Dummies". It explains the basic concepts such as "as x approaches zero" blah, blah. Works for a lot of people. Only other step would be talk to your teacher. You might start out with "this baseball falling problem has me stumped".

First, chop up up the equation into 2 factors: f(x)= (x^3+2x^2)-(16x-32) element out if achieveable: f(x)= x^2(x+2)-sixteen(x+2) That leaves you with 3 equations: (x^2-sixteen)(x+2)(x+2) Set each and each new equation equivalent to 0 and resolve for x: x= 2, 4, -4
