Because there are 9 of the 1/8 ribbons, you do this:
9*1/8=9/8
and because there are a total of 100 inches of ribbons on the roll, you do this:
100-9/8=98 7/8
Thus, the ribbon lenght left on the roll are 98 and 7/8 long
