I feel uncomfotable when we run into each other, specially after my boyfriend's visits. Shall I avoid the topic?

Don't worry. You don't need to broadcast your or listen to her details. Just be friendly and neighborly. The same as you would if senior citizens lived and boinked above you, there's no need to discuss it, but you'd still be a good neighbor, right?

Unless you really want to broadcast your sex life to her, then yes avoid the topic. I have a really hard time understanding what the problem is here. Are you just uncomfortable because you are straight and she's a lesbian? If that's the problem, you need to get over it. She is still a person just like you and she has the same feelings and emotions that you do. I am straight myself, but I have some VERY good friends that are homosexual. They are some of the nicest people out there. Try being just a little more tolerant of people that are different from you.

I'm confused as to why your upstairs neighbor would care if you have a b/f, and I'm confused as to why you care if she's a Lesbian. What is it you want to go about and what topic are you avoiding. Try rewording this to make some sense.

Why are you uncomfortable? Do you feel attracted to her? Is it that because you're secretly attracted to her you feel guilty that you are seen with a boyfriend? Has she said anything to you about you having a boyfriend, or that she is interested in you?
Has she harassed you or come on to you? Have you harassed her or come on to her?

Unless you can answer these question honestly, there's really nothing to feel uncomfortable about. That uncomfortableness is usually something inside you that is making you feel that way. I'd take a long hard look in the mirror over this one.

why are you "uncomfortable?" YOu might need to come out of the closet yourself:

August 1996 Press Release

WASHINGTON -- Psychoanalytic theory holds that homophobia -- the fear, anxiety, anger, discomfort and aversion that some ostensibly heterosexual people hold for gay individuals -- is the result of repressed homosexual urges that the person is either unaware of or denies. A study appearing in the August 1996 issue of the Journal of Abnormal Psychology, published by the American Psychological Association (APA), provides new empirical evidence that is consistent with that theory.

Researchers at the University of Georgia conducted an experiment involving 35 homophobic men and 29 nonhomophobic men as measured by the Index of Homophobia scale. All the participants selected for the study described themselves as exclusively heterosexual both in terms of sexual arousal and experience.

Each participant was exposed to sexually explicit erotic stimuli consisting of heterosexual, male homosexual and lesbian videotapes (but not necessarily in that order). Their degree of sexual arousal was measured by penile plethysmography, which precisely measures and records male tumescence.

Men in both groups were aroused by about the same degree by the video depicting heterosexual sexual behavior and by the video showing two women engaged in sexual behavior. The only significant difference in degree of arousal between the two groups occurred when they viewed the video depicting male homosexual sex: 'The homophobic men showed a significant increase in penile circumference to the male homosexual video, but the control [nonhomophobic] men did not.'

Broken down further, the measurements showed that while 66% of the nonhomophobic group showed no significant tumescence while watching the male homosexual video, only 20% of the homophobic men showed little or no evidence of arousal. Similarly, while 24% of the nonhomophobic men showed definite tumescence while watching the homosexual video, 54% of the homophobic men did.

When asked to give their own subjective assessment of the degree to which they were aroused by watching each of the three videos, men in both groups gave answers that tracked fairly closely with the results of the objective physiological measurement, with one exception: the homophobic men significantly underestimated their degree of arousal by the male homosexual video.

I'm not sure of what the problem is. Is it simple that she's gay and your afraid she's attracted to you. Or is it that she is making suggestions your not happy with? If it's just you being paranoid don't worry about it stress less. But if she is making motions towards you that seem to friendly then try to ignore them for now but if they don't stop perhaps politely telling her your flattered but not interested is the way to go. Good Luck.

Minina,
I think that you need to step back a few minutes and ask yourself why you have such a problem. Go ahead, I'll wait.
