No I would not let him live there, and yes it might be illegal. I suggest you point him in the direction of the nearest homeless shelter and animal shelter.

Look I don't think it's a good idea to have your friend stay inthe driveway. I understand the help he is giving you is a good thing, but tobe honest it's going to be more of a hindrance than a help.
You are not helping him in any way by allowing this situation, as a matter of fact your causing a problem.
You now have a squatter on your property and it will be hard to get rid of him when the time arises.
Is it just companionship you are looking for or is it a gardener, come handy man.
I gather he has established himself as a friend, and undoubtedly
will take advantage of your friendship for as long as need be.
I'm not sure what the full circumstances are.
However if you are happy with the situation at this moment in time, than let the powers at be, be with you

I would be leery of this guy and wonder why he is homeless. Get him information on another place to stay and then tell him to leave. In our town their was two women who let a guy care for their lawn. These ladies trusted him. They always paid him and never had any problems until one day he murdered both of them with a hammer when he tried to steal their purses for drug money.

You should be very careful. Homeless people are harder to track and never give you their true names. Remember, there is a reason he is homeless. Don't give him free run of your home. It doesn't matter what church he goes to...every criminal finds God, either as another way to gain the trust of their future victim, a warm meal and an occasional handout, or while behind bars trying to manipulate their release...Never let your guard down.

it tells me that you are one with a good heart, and you also care.
but my question is this why does your friend not get his own place, and please I am not trying to be one that shows no compassion to my brother since we are all of Gods Children.
but the question dose have to be asked ,.......... ask yourself why. then ask him why he choose to live as he dose.
But my thinking is this he asked to live in your drive way because he feels safe there from any harm.
